Hi! I’m Caroline.
I’m a writer and editor who lives in New York City.
Back in 2013, this site grew out of my love-hate relationship with lifestyle blogs — beloved as a source of inspiration and entertainment, but occasionally a place that left me feeling like I was lacking. Three years later, with social media saturating every inch of our lives, the concept of “aspirational-images-as-a-horrible-benchmark-for-your-own-progress” is a widely accepted one. But what is the antidote? Can you consume all things “lifestyle” and still maintain a healthy sense of… life?
To that end, this site is a small attempt to embrace messiness. This is not a place about needing improvement. It’s a place for sharing doubts, dreams, questions and concerns. It’s a place for experimenting, sharing mistakes, and eventually learning to laugh at them.
The truth is, no one knows what they’re doing; I’ll be the first to admit that. It is only by sharing our experiences with authenticity and empathy that we gain wisdom. Sometimes, it may be funny. Sometimes, it may be serious. Always, it will be honest. In the words of Groucho Marx paraphrasing Oscar Wilde, “Life is too serious to be taken seriously.” I couldn’t agree more. So if nothing else, let’s just try to have fun.
Thank you so much for reading.
